Family man, doctorate student, metal music maker, and a guy who likes to pick up heavy things put them down and repeat. I enjoy getting out and filming cool mountain bike trails around Wyoming and Minnesota and hopefully other areas as I can! I also do a few gear reviews, BMX things, strength and conditioning for mtb/bmx content (coming soon!), and all that good stuff! I am just an average joe and not a pro by any means, so I hope my riding is relatable! Thank you for checking out my channel and I hope you all enjoy!
Building a Guitar for my Dad from Start to Finish! Custom Strat Style
Just a quick video of building a guitar for my dad starting from a plank of wood and building all the way through to the end product and playing. This was a super fun and meaningful project.
My dad's favorite guitar shape is a stratocaster, thus why I went with that shape.
He served in the military for 35 years and was a loadmaster on C-130's so I went for a paint scheme to match when they were OD green throughout the 80's before switching to the gray color they are now. He is an avid rifle and firearm shooter/reloader and collects WWI and WWII rifles so I added Walnut into the neck milled from an M1 Garand stock.
My wife picked out the cream colored pickguard and pickups as this matches th...

Here is the short version of my last video. So you can just get straight to hearing the guitar in a mix! I think it sounds pretty killer! This guitar is definitely metal as f*ck! I love it and think it plays great! Hope you enjoy the song and the guitar. Let me know what you think! Thanks for watching!
Building & Playing My Custom X-Type Guitar!
Просмотров 2045 месяцев назад
In this video I am introducing a guitar I've been working on and finally finishing it and playing it for the first time! The X-shape is one of my favorite shapes and I took a Jackson Warrior and made some slight tweaks to make it my own! This guitar started out as a basswoof body blank, then I glued on a poplar burl top. From there I cut it out, shaped it, routed everything out, did some body c...
Taming The Noise From My Harley Benton TB-70 Bass Guitar
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.6 месяцев назад
I love my budget Harley Benton TB-70, thunderbird bass, but its a noisy son of a gun. So I attempt to get the buzz gone. Like others who have had Harley Benton guitars, it needed some work on the ground. Then I used copper foil conductive tape just to help with the noise floor. It overall went really well and is a lot quieter, not perfect but way way better! It was overall an easy thing to do a...

Jackson Dinky Transformation! Quick Custom Guitar Paintjob!

Just a really short and sweet video of refinishing my Jackson Dinky JS32T DKA. This guitar is $369.99 and rips! Its fun to play, but I'm allergic to the finish. So to keep it playable, I need to refinish it so I decide to have fun and create a paintscheme I've always been wanting! Inspired by the 80's bright yellow Ibanez RG and the Canabilsmo finishes of Solar Guitar. Thanks to Guitar Guts for...
Re-Recorded an Old Song From My Old Band Condemned Remains!
Просмотров 1297 месяцев назад
On a whim, decided to relearn and re-record a song from the band I was in 2008-2011 called Condemned Remains. We had some pretty good tunes and this one is no exception! It's simple but effective riffing and I love playing it! It was a song we never finished so I just recorded what we had and its good enough for me! Hope you enjoy this video!

Building Another Sweet Feature at Gamehaven! Rochester, Mn MTB

In this video I am doing more work on the Gamehaven Trails in Rochester, MN. I am a part of the group called Rochester Active Sports Club (RASC) and we build and maintain all the MTB trails in Rochester. Here is a quick video of building the latest feature. Nice hack and sweet riff. Thank you!
Give this man a medal
I tried this and it worked. The only thing I did differently was once I had 2 blades stacked I but the third blade in between them. It slide in a lot easier than trying on top or the bottom. And continued add blades like that.
The colors.. the sound and all - Craftsmanship at its FINEST!!! 🤘
Glad you dig it man!!! It was a super fun project!
Dzięki ❤

Thanks for the great tip. POWDER RIVER LET 'ER BUCK.
GO POKES!!!
God settings on his front suspension.
Inarguably the best karate monkey video in existence. I fucking love my rigid eggplant, god dammit.
Glad you enjoyed the video man! It’s a fun bike!
If you stack the blades from the bottom i.e. insert the first one and then insert subsequent blades under the initial blade, you get much easier separation of the crown race.
this 100% works. been doing this for years except only using one razor blade and a thin blade flathead screwdriver. I DO highly recommend throwing 2 layers of gorilla tape on the top part of the razor blade that you are banging on, that way it adds a little bit of cushion which helps prevent the razor blade from potentially shattering when you hit it. For even more added protection put a piece of gorilla tape on the hammer head. I say specifically gorilla tape because it's thicker then normal duct tape and it sticks really well. Luckily the crown race I have for my current fork is the easy to install/remove type with a slit in it.
Why does your fork look backwards?
Manitou suspension uses a reverse arch! Just part of their design for stiffness. It definitely looks different though!
@@Tkolbo_interesting! Learned something new today!
I'm on a rigid Surly Krampus, for the sole purpose of making people with fancy full sus bikes feel bad about themselves.
Perfect! I like your style!
Worked flawlessly. Just used 2 blades all the way around and then had enough space for a flathead to pry from the bottom. Initially had no space for the flathead so this worked great
Very helpful!
Awesome! Def better than hammering with screw driver. Thx mate!
This is awesome and helpful! Thank you for posting this.
Thank You for this info.
Sumbitch 😂
Thums up for the intro! Sick!
Thanks!!
Bro you are a lifesaver, I bought a Deity Copperhead stem for my rail and I was like whaaaaat is going on why won't this fit lol
How much it cost you per mile? Most probably nothing!
I wonder why the new fork doesn't come with a crown race. So frustrating.
Cool looking bike! I like the video very much! I'm looking for some decent budget rigid fork, but being on a budget, everything looks pricey 😕 Greetings from Croatia from Kris 😎
4nm max
Hilarious
Maybe I have cheep blades, but I just ended up with the edge of the razor blade chipping off. But a nice video.
Loved this review so much that i showed it to my buddies. Keep it up!
Ha! Thanks I appreciate it!
Brilliant!
You are NOT USING 'Razor' blades! , these 'blades' are for utility knives!, l certainly WOULDNT SHAVE WITH THEM!
Cool, it’s all semantics anyways. Where I come from utility knife blades are referred to as razor blades.
when having Carbon Seatpost, use Allen Screw Clamp not quick release.
That is an Allen clamp. I didn’t use my torque wrench and overtightened
beautiful hack!
Thanks!
You missed the part where you tighten that little lock ring and it just slips when you hit the knock block and your fork hits your frame anyways
great tip for removal!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks alot man, it worked for me!
Glad to hear it!

Hey, do you have a picture somewhere how the bike is looking now? Im currently thinking about building up a hardtail with with a paint stripped aluminium frame but don't know if I want to take the struggle with clear coating or not
It looks exactly the same!! Send me an email to tkolbomtb@gmail.com and I’ll toss ya a current picture
Friggin killer! Love the history behind the color/material choices.
So glad you dig it! It was a super fun build!
Really cool video and build! My dad didn't teach me shit, so I'm kind of envious, but I still enjoyed watching the video! haha
Glad you enjoyed it even though your dad didn’t teach you shit! Thanks a ton for watching!
Wow. Thats impressive. And it sounds awesome. I love the finishing touches like the garand wood. Sweet. I could ask you a dozen questions but don't want to show my ignorance. How about, how long did it take? And do you do custom orders? If so... Roughly how much for one like that just different colors? Would love to hear enter the sandman or the watchtower.
It took I’d say 30-40 hours roughly. I didn’t keep a running count unfortunately. I’m glad you dig it Harry. A build like this would probably be around $800-$1k on a quick estimate
Well the work Looks amazing. It certainly sounds good. I was hoping you'd do Maybe ten minutes of Metallica 😜 I haven't a clue if that's a good price or a lot. My guess is good.
Somehow I knew it wouldn’t be an acoustic 😂 Handmade and custom painted after a C-130?! 🤘🏻
Absolutely! Handmade and painted to rep that military history! I’ll build him an acoustic in the future I bet…
Damn, what a beauty! How many hours did this build take?
Oh it was quite a few late nights probably roughly 30-40 hours into it I would say. Came out killer and I’m very happy with it!
If still active here, hiw is the downtube clearance? I have a Trek fuel ex and would like to add this fork with 150mm but am afraid it will hit the tube
Downtube clearance was totally fine on the remedy though I can’t always for the fuel
THANKS!
You’re welcome!
Music video is WILD! Rock on 🤘
Hell yeah! Thank you!
Nice choice for the bookmatching-orientation. I like how the pattern of your top semi-matched the "V" ...or "U" created by the separation of the upper and lower - rear horns.
Thanks! I liked the way that worked as well! It’s interesting bookmatching asymmetrical guitars so I took a chance on matching it up to the horn orientation and it worked pretty well!
I would usually just thread the tail-piece post into it, put a 2x4 on top of that to protect the post and hammer away.
A crown race removal tool on Amazon is $20. If you were replacing a fork or upgrading a fork most likely your bike is hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Is it worth nickel and diming over $20? Pick and choose what to be cheap about
At the time tools weren’t as available nor could I find as cheap (thanks peak pandemic) now yeah totally worth 20 bucks!
if not over torque it might last for about 10,000 miles of road cycling
Way more fun to over tighten everything. I have the same pistol in another bike with well over 5k miles no issues. This was totally my fault
My kids are constantly loosing my rubber mallet…
Heard that!!
